Thyroid cancer is the most common endocrine cancer in Hong Kong. We have a good experience

in treating the disease with radioactive iodine (I-131). Radioactive iodine plays a dual role: killing the
cancer cells and reducing relapses, assisting follow-up via checking serum thyroglobulin.

In this lecture, I will discuss the indications, procedures, and potential benefits and complications of I-131

treatment. Cases will be presented to best illustrate the usefulness.
